Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. Her early Broadway roles include Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. Her performance as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Annaleigh has been collaborating on projects with award-winning directors, actors, and producers throughout the course of her professional career. Ashford next will star opposite Kumail Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive program Welcome to Chippendales which premieres on November 22nd. Ashford's current film will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be in the month of March 2023, when he is paired with Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the production. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the national crisis that swept across the country. Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment trial in more than one century. She was the star of two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive. Also, she was a part of the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, that starred legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Her additional Broadway performances includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a Denver origins native, and now splits her time in Los Angeles.
